The Acting Director General, Civil Aviation, Nigeria, Capt. Chris Najomo has officially assumed office.
He assumed office on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023 following the receipt of his appointment letter from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
Capt. Najomo was appointed DGCA in an acting capacity due to the suspension of Captain Musa Nuhu, on December 14, 2023, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Capt. Chris Najomo is a seasoned pilot with over three decades of experience in aviation.
Before his appointment, he was the Director, Consumer Protection and Public Affairs, NCAA.
Captain Najomo has pledged to prioritize aviation safety, security, and staff welfare.
Our take:
Our Managing Partner, Mr Sukh Mann, has passed on his congratulations to Capt. Najomo and commented that "Chris is a thorough professional with vast experience of the sector in Nigeria, we served together at Arik Air some years back and even then he stood out as a consummate professional, I am sure he will continue to move the Regulatory body forward in a progressive manner."
"These are exciting times in the Nigerian sector and under the stewardship of the new Honourable Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, we are expecting the sector to start to deliver a sustainable aviation masterplan that the Nigerian public so deserve.
He also added that "During this transition process it is very important that the media and sector at large support and assist the new Minister and Acting DG as the tasks ahead are many, time to put aside the politics and focus on the sector."
It should be recalled that the new administration under President Tinubu announced a major shakeup of the aviation sector in early December and we are now beginning to see glimpses of the new vision and strategy under the new administration. We wish them well and offer our unfettered support in delivering world class aviation in Nigeria.
