Africa: Ethiopian DH8D at Mekele Encounters Landing Gear Problem Resulting In Runway Excursion

We have received news from our Kenya office that an Ethiopian Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration ET-AVS operating flight number T-106 from Addis Ababa (ADD) to Mekele (MQX ) within Ethiopia.


The aircraft landed on Mekele's runway 11 but suffered a technical issue with the left main gear causing the aircraft to veer left of the runway and come to a stop on soft ground.


No injuries have been reported but there is major damage to the aircraft following the left gear collapse.
